Waiting for the answers...

Forgot that neither of you is in the Bay Area, so you wouldn't have seen The Story of India on KQED, but perhaps you might have seen it through some other channel (in the generic sense of the word "channel" - not restricted to TV).

Back to the discussion topic... Looks like Sankrant got busy with other things. I was waiting for his next post with the answers :)

The Story of India on KQED

I don't think that I can attempt to answer any of the 3 questions posed by Sankrant. Just wanted to tell everyone about Michael Woods' six-part series for PBS and the BBC - The Story of India. It is currently airing on KQED. Two episodes are broadcast every Monday since Jan 5th on KQED Channel 9 from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, so tomorrow (Jan 19th) will be the final two episodes.
Sankrant, Surajit - something tells me that you both have been watching it, too. :)

3rd of 3 questions

Bonus points: What *has* been the central debate in the Indian traditions?

2nd of 3 questions

Second question, for the "God"-inclined--why has the existence or non-existence of Mr. God not been a central debate in Indian society over the millenia, as opposed to Christian/secular society.

1st of 3 questions

Why do you think Balinese Hinduism, a thousand+ year old branch that follows all the agamas has no "untouchability"?
